Ultra thin compact rear case

Only 3.5” in depth or half the depth of comparable VHF radios on the market. The rear case design grants flexibility when flush mounting the radio in tight areas or saves dash space when bracket mounted, allowing you more freedom when choosing a location to mount your radio.

ITU-R M493-13 Class D DSC

The EXPLORER is ITU-R Class D DSC VHF with a separate Channel receiver, which allows DSC calls to be received even when listening to traffic on Marine VHF channels. The DSC DISTRESS function when activated transmits a digital MAYDAY including vessel identification, Latitude / Longitude and time (with GPS connected), to facilitate prompt response. Additional calls that can be made are Individual, Group, Urgency, Safety, Position Report and Position Request calls.

DSC Position Polling

Another unique feature of the GX1600 is the ability to “poll” (up to 4 vessels) the GPS location of vessel(s) and show that vessel’s position on the radio’s display. Connecting a compatible GPS chart plotter will allow the GX1600 to repeat your position, SOG, COG and time on the full dot matrix display.

RAM3 second station microphone capable

Control all of the features of the main radio through a optional RAM3 speaker microphone (CMP30) at a second station.

3-Year waterproof warranty

If the EXPLORER fails for any reason (including water damage) during normal use for the first 3 years of ownership, STANDARD HORIZON will repair or replace it free, without hassles or charges. If it fails for anytime thereafter in normal use, for as long as the original purchaser owns the radio, STANDARD Horizon's Lifetime Flat Rate and Customer Loyalty Service Programs will cover it.
