Erratic depth readings

There can be several causes for erratic depth readings. If the readings become erratic only when running the engine(s) or when the boat is moving the cause could either be interference from the engine(s) or cavitation. Also, poor bottom conditions can interfere with good depth readings.

Depth reading is constantly cycling up and down

Most likely the unit is in the simulation mode. To verify this unplug the transducer, if the depth sounder continues giving these readings then refer to the owners manual in order to remove the unit from the simulation mode. You can also reset the microprocessor by turning the unit off, then press and hold the UP and DOWN arrow keys while turning the unit back on. If there are no instructions present please contact technical support for assistance.

Can't I just put a splitter on the transducer cable to run two displays?

Transducers are "balanced" devices and are very sensitive to changes in impedance. If a splitter is installed the impedance is altered too severely and the transducer is no longer capable of operating. If you would like to run two separate displays it is suggested that you use the DS150 as the primary display and use an RP150 repeater unit as the second display. the DS150 will output NMEA data for depth to the RP150 repeater.

How do I turn the power on and off on my depth instrument without having to disconnect it from the battery?

In a typical wiring situation the instruments are wired directly to an accessory panel or breaker. When power to the boat is turned on the instruments are designed to turn on automatically as well, making an on/off switch on the instrument unnecessary. It is possible to wire in an external on/off switch in-line if access to an accessory panel or breaker is not available.

GREAT DISPLAY

The 150 SERIES features a high contrast LCD display with big black digits that are easy to read in any light condition. A rugged non-corrosive case features a curved lens that reduces glare. Backlighting provides clear images at night.

SIMPLE OPERATION

The 150 SERIES utilize intuitive controls that make it easy to take advantage of all the features. While each instrument can stand alone, the design is an integrated package. The look and operation are consistent through all the pieces.

WATERPROOF, AND BUILT TO TAKE A BEATING

The front case, display and buttons are waterproof. Standard Horizon backs the 150 SERIES for a full year and then by our excellent Lifetime Flat Rate Service Program.

UNCOMPLICATED INSTALLATION

Installation is a breeze without the use of special tools. The full range of 150 SERIES square 4-inch instruments flush mount for custom looking installations. The case protrudes less than 1 inch from the bulkhead and only 1-inch into the surface, with a 1-" hole required for mounting. Of course, the 150 SERIES instruments output reliable NMEA data, for interface with repeaters and other electronics.

DS150 DEPTH SOUNDER

Depth range is 400 feet, or equivalent in fathoms or meters. The DS150 features visual and audible shallow, deep and anchor alarms. Prop or keel offset are part of the setup, which like the alarms are stored in a non-volatile memory for trouble free operation. Most importantly, a unique depth algorithm provides unmatched depth finding stability and reliability.
